You have two choices when life is hard
Let it “be a bitch” or let it be your guide.
Either way, life will continue to happen. We’ll have ups and downs, probably more downs than ups. And sometimes it’ll feel like it’ll never get better. That we are doomed to a life of misery. Luckily (and unluckily) for us, nothing lasts forever. The good moments never last and neither will the bad.
2019 was a pretty awful year.
I’m still experiencing the effects of it.
It’s almost like when you step in gum and no matter how many times you roll the bottom of your foot along the concrete, against the edge of the sidewalk, or through the grass, your shoe sticks a little.
That’s my 2019.
I’ve tried wiping my foot so many times and believed 2019 was behind me but it still lingers. That sticky feeling that no matter what you do to wipe it off, it’s relentless.
Growing up, I always heard the phrase, “Life’s a bitch and then you die.”
I assumed one of my parents coined the term when I was young, but apparently, it was first written in The Washington Post in 1982:
