[Dirt] Road to Leadville Week 7 Check-in

Week 7 and TrainingPeaks shows my fitness as 80. Lower than this time last year. I’m usually high 90’s/low 100’s. I guess I still have 23 weeks until the race and this is different training than what I’ve done the past three years.

Weekly TSS: usually around 550 (I usually average 700-something)

Weekly duration: averaging around 12 hours per week

I noticed I have a hard time getting on the trainer by 5:30 am. Lately, bike sessions have been just under two hours long. I chose the higher volume plan because I figured I could handle it.

And I can but damn, the mornings are a struggle.

I wake up at 4:30 am Monday through Friday. My body doesn’t wake up immediately so I give it time to start functioning like an athletic body, or something like that.

But it’s my phone that always gets me. I always start with, “I’ll just check the inbox real quick.” Then it’s, “I’ll check all the social media accounts I run.” 45-minutes later and it’s 5:30 AM.

In a sense, I’m ashamed that I let the outside world into my world so early in the morning.

Why are we so addicted to our phones?

I guess I do feel like I’m missing out on something when I don’t check my phone. Once…
